Manchester Central Can’t Punch Ticket to Football Playoffs

Division I has eight playoff spots this year, and the Manchester Central Little Green were one win away from clinching that last one.

However, it was not to be, as the Little Green fell 26-6 on the road to defending champion Bedford on Friday night.

Central got out to an early 6-0 lead, but the Bulldogs tied the game on a red zone touchdown from Demetri Anagnost in the second quarter, followed by a successful point-after attempt that would give Bedford the lead for good.

That lead held thanks to a failed Central field goal attempt late in the third quarter, followed by 90-yard pick six from Bedford’s Lucien Mumpini with 9:13 left in the contest.

Harrison Legoullon and Thomas Norfleet added insurance touchdowns before the contest concluded.

Central ends their season 5-4, the only team in Division I with a winning record that is not in the playoffs. In the quarterfinals, Bedford will head to Winnacunnet next week, with the winner of that game facing either Exeter or Goffstown for a trip to UNH for the Division I Final on Nov. 18

On the other side of the bracket, Salem will play Londonderry, with the winner of that game facing either Pinkerton or Nashua South for the other berth in the final.
