NORTHFIELD, NH — A Manchester man was injured in an accident in Northfield when he the box truck he was driving clipped another vehicle and sent them both off the roadway and into the median.

According to NH State Police, on January 28, 2019 at approximately 9:11 a.m., Troopers from Troop D, and Northfield Police Department responded to Interstate 93 northbound south of Exit 19 for the report of a motor vehicle crash with entrapment.

Troopers located a 2011 Ford Box Truck operated by Siarhei Varanko, 28, of Manchester, which had gone off the roadway and struck a tree. A second vehicle, a 1999 Toyota Camry operated by Heather Moody, 36, of Boscawen, was also off the roadway and had come to rest in the center median next to the box truck.

State Police accident investigators say Varanko was traveling northbound on I-93, when he changed lanes from the right lane into Moody’s lane to pass another car and clipped the front of Moody’s car, sending his box truck out of control, as well as Moody’s car.

Varanko apparently did not see Moody in the left lane when he changed lanes. As a result, Varanko lost control of the box truck and slid off the roadway striking
a tree in the median; Moody’s vehicle became attached to the bumper of the box truck and also slid off the roadway, both vehicles coming to rest off the roadway in the center median.

The Interstate was reduced to one lane of travel for approximately six hours while John’s Towing services removed the box truck and debris.

All operators and passengers were transported to Concord Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
