MANCHESTER, NH –There’s lots of food news with the new year and the Manchester Ink Link has you covered. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on special menus and who is taking reservations for Valentine’s Day weekend. Filet Mignon at 1 Oak on Elm

1 Oak on Elm is now open, serving dinner Tuesday- Saturday, 5 p.m.- 10 p.m. Located at 1087 Elm Street at the corner of Lowell Street, the space is filled with dark woods, crystal chandeliers and an eclectic, upscale dining menu and live music. 1 Oak on Elm is located on the main floor, and The Dugout, a sports bar is located in the basement. Joe Grella, the executive chef at both restaurants, hopes to offer something for everyone with this new concept. Recently a former contestant on Alton Brown’s Cutthroat Kitchen,  we have no doubt he will.

The Foundry is hosting a five-course wine dinner with Guillaume Touton and Enrico Farello on January 27. The menu includes courses featuring local pork, veal and beef paired with wines. Reservations are required, call 603-836-1925 for tickets or more information. The dinner is $65 per person.

Big changes at Milly’s Tavern in the new year as they expand the brewery. In order to do this,  the main stage has been removed and will be replaced with a small acoustic stage and the dining area is being renovated. Construction is expected to last for another week, during which Milly’s Tavern is open for business as usual.

LaBelle Winery is featured on Start Up, a PBS television show that asks the question “what does it take to follow your dream?” Amy LaBelle and Cesar Arboldea, co-owners of the winery,  are featured on Season 3, Episode 12.

Labatt Blue and the Manchester Monarch’s have partnered to sponsor the Labatt Blue Ribbon Bubble Hockey Tournament with events to be held at sports bars in and around Manchester starting on January 7 at the Thirsty Moose Taphouse at 7 p.m. and ending on April 8 with an event at the Verizon. Participating sports bars also include Buffalo Wild Wing’s, Billy’s Sports Bar, Strange Brew Tavern, Luigi’s Pizza Bar and Pizza Man in Hooksett . Complete details here.

New cafe in the works. Tidewater Catering, who also operates Waterworks Café in the Millyard, is getting ready to open Unity Café at The Sundial Center in Manchester. The café will serve breakfast and lunch Monday through Saturday. Get updates on the cafe’s Facebook.

As a way of saying thank you to those who serve, Funktion is offering all active military 15% off their tab throughout the month of January.

LaCarreta will open its fifth location in May at the former Whippersnappers space in Londonderry. They also plan to open a restaurant in Portsmouth in the spring.

This year Valentine’s Day is on a Sunday, and restaurants expect the entire weekend to be busy.  Cotton is currently accepting reservations for Valentine’s Day weekend. They will offer their regular menu, plus a special menu. Stay tuned for details.  Also, Hanover Street Chophouse is now taking reservations for Valentine’s Day weekend. No word on the menu, so stay tuned. Call 603-644-2467 to make a reservation. And, the Bedford Village Inn is accepting reservations for a four-course, prix-fixe menu on Sunday, February 14. The dinner is priced at $75 per person and seating will be between 5 p.m.- 9 p.m. Reservations are also strongly recommend for the 12th and 13th.
