MANCHESTER, NH – A man who made national headlines in 2007 for creating a hostage situation at Hillary Clinton’s Seacoast campaign office is now charged with Tuesday’s bank robbery in downtown Manchester.

Following the investigation of an Aug. 2  bank robbery at Citizen’s Bank, 875 Elm St., Manchester Detectives prepared a warrant for the arrest of Leeland Eisenberg, 55, of Concord. The robbery happened at about noon on Tuesday.

Later Tuesday evening Patrol Officer Jason Feliciano and Meghan Grant spotted Eisenberg in the area of the Valley Street Cemetery at 6:45 p.m. during an unrelated call for service.

They observed Eisenberg walking in the cemetery, so they stopped him to confirm his identification. Eisenberg was taken into custody without incident. He was in possession of a small amount of cash, as well as 6.5 grams of crack-cocaine.

Eisenberg served two years in prison after making national headlines following his arrest in 2007 for a bomb threat and hostage situation at Hillary Clinton’s campaign office in Rochester. He was arrested again by Manchester Police in November of 2015 after threatening to blow up the WMUR office building.

In addition to the bank robbery, Eisenberg was also charged with possession of a controlled drug. He is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on August 3, 2016.
