Man suffers medical emergency in MPD lobby, 4 officers spring into action to save his life

MANCHESTER, NH – Quick action by a group of Manchester Police officers Tuesday resulted in saving the life of a man who was suffering a medical emergency while waiting in the police headquarters lobby.

Manchester Police Sergeant Peter Marr and Officer Victoria Catano observed a man subject suffering from an unknown medical condition at 8:45 a.m. inside of the front lobby at police headquarters.

 

Officer Victoria Catano and Sergeant Marr noticed the man, 51, seated in a chair. They noticed he seemed pale in color and looked as if he may have been sleeping, so they checked his pulse. They were unable to locate a pulse, so they sprang into action and started emergency CPR.

Officer Catano retrieved the AED (automatic external defibrillator) while Sergeant Marr started chest compressions. Lieutenant Joe Mucci and Lieutenant Nicole Ledoux arrived to assist the officers with chest compressions.

AMR arrived a short time later and transported the man to a local hospital where he was treated for a possible heart issue. The officer’s swift and immediate actions most likely saved the man’s life.
