Man shot on Merrimack Street, homicide investigation underway

MANCHESTER, NH – An investigation is ongoing into a homicide in Manchester, according to the Attorney General’s office.

On September 14 at approximately 6:45 p.m., Manchester police officers responded to the intersection of Merrimack and Beech streets for a report of shots fired. There, they located an injured male, later identified as Jonathan Vazquez-Ojeda, 25, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Mr.Vazquez-Ojeda was transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

An autopsy was conducted Thursday by State Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Thomas Andrew who determined that Mr. Vazquez-Ojeda died as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest and certified that the manner of death was homicide. The investigation into the shooting incident is active and ongoing, but has been ruled a homicide.
