Man shot, killed, in Hanover Street shooting, SWAT team remains on scene

MANCHESTER, NH – A shooting on Hanover Street Sept. 7 has resulted in the death of a man.

In a statement released Friday afternoon, Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald and Manchester Police Chief Carlo Capano announce that as a result of the death of the victim, there is an on-going investigation into the circumstances around the shooting incident.

At approximately 11 a.m. an adult male was shot and killed in Manchester at a residence located at 367 Hanover St.

A SWAT team was deployed a short time later in pursuit of the shooter, who police believe remains inside the residence. Roads in the immediate area were closed to traffic. As of 2:30 p.m. the situation remained fluid, and dismissal from Central High School was delayed to insure the safety of all students.

The investigation is ongoing, and more information will be released as it becomes available. The name of the victim was not immediately released by authorities.
