MANCHESTER, NH – Manchester Police arrested a man caught inside a vacant Manchester Street home Tuesday night.

At approximately 7:50 p.m. Officer Shawn McKennedy arrived at the residence and spoke with the home owner, who stated he located a stranger hiding in the basement of the recently renovated property.

Once inside, the home owner noticed someone had tampered with the lock leading to the basement, so he entered the basement and found Carlos Playa DeJesus, 45, of Manchester, hiding in the corner. The home owner immediately exited the basement, secured the door and contacted police.

Officer McKennedy contacted a police K-9 team after the man failed to comply with his orders to exit the basement. Officer Jeff Fierimonte and his K-9 partner Bauer quickly convinced the man to vacate the basement. The man walked to the bottom of the stairs and conceded to the arrest without incident.

DeJesus was in possession of a screwdriver at the time he was taken into custody. He was charged with criminal trespass, possession of burglar’s tools and resisting arrest/ detention. He was scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on October 4, 2017.
