MANCHESTER, NH – An anonymous tip led police to the Super 8 Motel on Brown Avenue Saturday morning, resulting in the arrest of Christopher Hill, 30, no fixed address, and a 4-year-old found alone in his motel room was placed in temporary protective custody.

The initial call to police was to check into a report of a young child left alone in a motel room. Manchester Police Officers Michael Buckley and Alexander Martens responded to the call at 10:15 a.m. on Nov. 24, and were checking a room on the fourth floor when a motel employee told them the adult staying in that room was in the breakfast area. Police located a 4-year-old boy in the room, unattended. It is not known how long the boy was left alone, police said.

Police went to the breakfast area where they approached Hill, who ran from police. Police engaged in a brief foot pursuit before arresting Hill.

A search incident prior to Hill’s arrest revealed  he was in possession of .7 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 4.3 grams of a substance believed to be heroin/fentanyl, and 29 hydrocodone prescription pills inside of his pant pockets.

Hill was charged with three counts possession of controlled drug and resisting arrest/detention.

Officers located the young boy’s mother outside of the motel after Hill was taken into custody. Based on the circumstances, the boy was placed in care of the DCYF after he was medically cleared by AMR Ambulance. The child’s mother was interviewed on scene and later released.

The ongoing investigation may warrant charges for the child’s mother, as well as additional charges for Hill, who is not related to the child.

Hill is scheduled to appear in Hillsborough County Superior Court-North on November 26, 2018.
