Man dies in single-car crash on Route 101 in Epping

EPPING, NH  – On December 09, 2017, at approximately 1:34 p.m. Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police- Troop A barracks and the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision on Route 101 eastbound in the Town of Epping.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2015 Audi, Q5, being driven by Peter Johnson, 50, for reasons that are still under investigation, left the roadway and crashed into the Martin Road overpass. Mr. Johnson was pronounced dead by a member of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner at the scene of the crash.

Mr. Johnson was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors. However, all aspects of this crash are still under investigation.

Assisting the New Hampshire State Police at the scene were the New Hampshire State Police C.A.R. Unit, the Epping Police Department, and the Epping Fire Department.
