Man denied beer at Rite Aid punches clerk, charged with attempted robbery, assault

MANCHESTER, NH – On July 8, 2017 at approximately 12:40 a.m. officers of the Manchester Police Department responded to the Rite Aid located at 122 McGregor St. for a report of a 62-year-old employee being assaulted by a man who wanted to take beer out of the cold case after the 11:3o p.m. sales restriction.

The clerk attempted to prevent the man from removing the beer from the cooler and when he did so, the man repeatedly punched the clerk which resulted in injuries that required medical attention at Catholic Medical Center.

Joseph Tremblay, 22, was stopped by officers at the rear of the store shortly after the incident and was placed under arrest for attempted robbery and disorderly conduct.

During the booking process Tremblay was uncooperative and after being placed in a cell he punched and kicked the safety glass causing it to shatter. As a result he was additionally charged with criminal mischief (a felony).
