Man crashes stolen car that bursts into flames after road rage incident

MANCHESTER, NH – Just after noon on June 23, officers responded to the area of Bridge Street Extension and Ohio Avenue for an accident.

When officers arrived they located a Subaru on fire, and partially hanging over a guardrail. The driver was located walking away from the vehicle and refused to stop for officers.


 The suspect, John Cassidy, 48, of Manchester, eventually was detained south of Bridge Street Extension and Ohio Avenue and was placed into custody.

During the course of the investigation it was reported that Cassidy had attempted to run another vehicle off of the road at the exit 8 off-ramp on 93 south. The victim reported that Cassidy threatened to shoot him after he attempted to run his vehicle off of the road. The vehicle that Cassidy had crashed was reported stolen earlier from Manchester during a burglary.

Cassidy was charged with burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, conduct after an accident, resisting arrest, reckless conduct, criminal threatening, operating after suspension.
