Man connected to several bank robberies foiled when scooter sputters

MANCHESTER, NH — A homeless man was arrested Sunday and now faces charges in at least three bank robberies over the past year.

On November 27, 2016, at approximately 11:30 a.m., officers responded to TD Bank at 1255 S. Willow St. for a reported unarmed robbery. Additional Officers responding to the area a came across a subject on Gold Street at John Devine Drive attempting to start a mini-bike/scooter who matched the description of the suspect. This subject was identified as Michael Giles, 40, homeless.


Giles was in possession of clothing that was observed in surveillance footage from the bank, as well as an undisclosed amount of cash.

Additionally, through security footage from TD Bank at 70 Bay St., Giles was charged with a robbery that occurred on November 23, 2016, at approximately 2:15 p.m.

As well as an attempted robbery at Citizen’s Bank at 1550 Elm St. on January 22, 2016, at approximately 11:57 a.m.
