MANCHESTER, NH – A city man was arrested early Thursday morning for allegedly stealing a Volvo from a gas station convenience store, and possession of heroin.

Randy Katanga, 22, of Manchester, was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled drug and violation of a parole warrant.

A Manchester Police officer on patrol was dispatched to  the Gulf Express, 21 Main St., at about 2:40 a.m. on August 20 after a customer reported that her 1995 Volvo, which she had left unattended with the keys in the ignition, had been stolen.

At approximately 3:45 a.m. the Volvo was located on Pine and Central street being operated by Katanga.

Police found a plastic bag containing a white powdery substance in the vehicle which was tested and found to be heroin. Police also determined Katanga was wanted on a parole warrant.

He was scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester Aug. 20.
