MANCHESTER, NH — A city man was arrested early Thursday morning, charged with possession of a stolen handgun.

Malik Richards, 22, was arrested May 28 at about 2 a.m. outside of the 7-Eleven, 242 Beech St.

According to a police narrative, Officer’s Michael Caron and Jered Maguire were conducting a business check at 7-Elevenwhen they observed a male seated in the driver’s seat of a 1998 Ford Ranger pick-up truck.

They recognized the man seated in the cab of the truck and identified him as Richards, who continued to make furtive movements as he changed positions in the cab, so they asked him to step outside of the truck.

Richards complied and spoke with the officer’s as they stood outside of the pick-up. A pat down search of Richards revealed he was in possession of a crack pipe and a switchblade knife. The owner of the vehicle, Nikita Park, 27, of Manchester, exited the store and spoke with the officers about Richards. They located a stolen .45 caliber handgun inside of the cab of the truck once they were granted permission to search her vehicle. The handgun was reported stolen on May 22 in Milford.

Richards was charged with receiving stolen property and violation of bail conditions. He is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester later today. Park was not charged in the incident.
