MANCHESTER, NH – Officer Richard Valenti Jr. was patrolling the area of Beech Street, south of Hayward Street at approximately 6:45 a.m. on July 16, when he observed a man standing in the middle of Beech Street. The man allegedly stopped traffic before he kicked two cars as they stopped for him on Beech Street. Both vehicles immediately left the area as they safely passed the man.

Officer Valenti stopped his vehicle and approached the individual to clear him from the middle of the street. He made contact with Adi Melkic, 29, of Manchester. Melkic was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

A search incident during the arrest revealed Melkic was in possession of 1.2 grams of heroin, so he was also charged with possession of a controlled drug and later released on $1,000 cash bail.

Melkic is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on August 22, 2017.
