MANCHESTER, NH — A Queen City man was arrested May 24 after a week-long investigation into a first degree assault case involving an infant under six months of age.

Police, fire and EMS originally arrived at the home of Anthony Yarbrough, 28, on May 16, 2017. They responded to a call involving the infant who sustained suspicious head injuries.

The infant boy was transported to the Elliot Hospital and later transferred to Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth for further care.

Manchester Police juvenile detectives Nicholas Georgoulis and Stephen Flynn spearheaded the investigation and concluded Yarbrough was responsible for the infant boy’s head injuries.

Child abuse cases are very difficult cases to investigate, so exceptional investigative work is required to hold people accountable when crimes are committed against children too young to communicate for themselves. Chief Nick Willard credits both Detective Georgoulis and Flynn for their outstanding work on this particular case. The child is currently in the care of family members while recovering from his injuries.

Yarbrough was arrested on the first-degree assault warrant Wednesday. He is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on May 25, 2017.
