Man charged with assault after allegedly punching a juvenile and hitting another with a pipe

MANCHESTER, NH – Officers were dispatched to the area of Notre Dame Avenue and Conant Street at approximately 5:05 p.m. Aug. 30 for an assault involving a weapon. Officer Jason Feliciano spoke with Michael Leard, 19, in front of 6 Notre Dame Ave.

Officer Feliciano asked about the assault involving several juveniles in the neighborhood. He spoke with Leard while Officer Edwin Sepluveda spoke with two juvenile victims in front of 102 South Main St. The juveniles claimed to have been assaulted by Leard prior to police arrival.

A 15 year-old male was struck with a pipe and knocked off of his bicycle according to him and several witnesses. The blow to his arm shattered his watch and caused minor injury. His mother responded to the area, but declined medical attention for her son.

The 12 year-old victim stated he was punched several times by Leard and received minor injuries. His mother also responded to the scene and refused medical attention for her son.

Multiple witnesses corroborated the series of events, so Leard was placed into custody without incident and charged with, second-degree assault, simple assault, criminal mischief and violation of bail.

He is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on August 31, 2017.
