Man charged with 2 armed robberies within a week at same convenience store

MANCHESTER, NH — A city man has been charged with two armed robberies of the same convenience store.

Manchester Police responded to two separate armed robberies — on May 29 and June 5 — at Crosstown Variety, 270 Amory St. Detectives followed up on both cases and ultimately located and arrested Gene Cerra, 31, of 260 Blucher St., Manchester.

Officer Brett Fernald located a vehicle matching the description of a possible suspect vehicle on July 10 parked in front of 260 Blucher St. Det. Dan Whelan followed up on the lead and ultimately identified Cerra as the alleged armed robber. He completed an arrest warrant for Cerra and took him into custody at his residence on July 11, 2016.

Cerra is charged with two counts of armed robbery (felony) and is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court in Manchester on July 12, 2016.
