Man arrested at Hooksett rest stop, charged with possession of fentanyl with intent to sell

HOOKSETT, NH – Julius Butler, 45, of Dubuque St. in Manchester, was arrested Jan. 25  in the parking lot of the Interstate 93 North rest area in Hooksett at approximately 4 p.m. The arrest came at the completion of a two-month investigation into the unlawful sales of the opioid drug fentanyl in Hooksett.

Butler was arrested on three felony warrants for sale of narcotic drugs and was additionally charged with possession of narcotic drugs with intent to distribute.

“Hooksett has not been immune from this opioid epidemic, and we are dedicated to working collectively in our efforts to remove those who seek to profit from pedaling this poison in our community from our streets,” Chief Peter Bartlett said of the arrest.

Butler was released on $20,000 bail and is awaiting a court appearance at the Merrimack County Superior Court in Concord.

The New Hampshire Drug Task Force assisted the Hooksett Police Department, along with the assistance of the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office and the New Hampshire State Police in the investigation.
