MANCHESTER, N.H. – On Sunday, the Manchester Police Department arrested a man wanted on multiple charges stemming from an alleged assault of a pregnant woman.

Angel Maldonado, 34, was discovered near the corner of Beech and Hanover Streets after an anonymous tip to police.

On June 20, Maldonado allegedly kicked and punched the pregnant woman in her sleep, according to accounts given to police by the woman, whose name was not released.

She also told police that Maldonado hit her dozens of times in the head and face, kicked her in the back and stomach, hit her with a lamp, threw a dresser on her, and then hit her with a drawer from inside the dresser.

Police reported that the woman had cuts on her arm from being slashed with a knife, and also had injuries consistent with strangulation.

Maldonado was charged with alleged first-degree assault, second-degree assault, simple assault and criminal mischief. He will be arraigned in Hillsborough Superior Court on June 24.

Any accused of a crime is presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.
