Man accused of DUI orders food at Dairy Queen, hits building with SUV, flees

MANCHESTER, NH — A city man is charged with operating under the influence of alcohol after he alleged struck the side of Dairy Queen while going through the drive-through on Dec. 17.

Michael Burke, 44 of Manchester, faces two charges, OUIL and conduct after an accident.

According to police Burke struck the side of the recently renovated Dairy Queen building with his 1990 Ford Ranger at about 11:40 a.m. after ordering food at the drive-thru window.  The owner of the restaurant followed Burke, who left the parking lot after the incident.

Manchester Police arrived  several minutes later and located the Ford Ranger on Second Street. Officer Ryan Heile made contact with Burke and placed him into custody once he determined he was under the influence of alcohol.

Burke was released on $5,000 personal recognizance and is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on January 5, 2016.

The owner estimates the damage to his property at about $7,000.
