MANCHESTER, NH – Jeremey Sterling, 25, of Waterboro, Maine, was arrested Thanksgiving night, charged with attempted murder and reckless conduct in connection to the shooting of a 39-year-old Manchester woman on Nov. 23.

At 2:45 p.m. on Thursday police responded to a shots-fired call in the area of Brown Avenue and O’Malley Street.

Upon arrival police did not find a shooting victim, but spoke with several people who claimed to have seen the shooting take place. Officers also spoke with several occupants of 355 Brown Ave. and 359 Brown Avenue, after residents discovered bullet holes in their respective apartments.

A short time later a woman arrived at Catholic Medical Center suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to her torso. She was listed in critical condition this morning.

The initial officer on scene located Sterling in the parking lot of 355 Brown Ave. shortly after the incident took place. Sterling was ultimately taken into custody and charged with attempted murder and reckless conduct. This does not appear to be a random act of violence as both parties are known to one another, police said.

There is no additional information as to the motive of the alleged shooting.

Sterling is currently being held pending arraignment in Hillsborough County Superior Court-North on Nov. 24.
