MANCHESTER, NH — Manchester Police were checking on a loud music complaint in the parking lot of McDonough School in the early morning hours of June 1 when they discovered someone had actually fired a handgun prior to their arrival.

A Concord Street resident complained about loud music and a possible gunshot around 3:40 a.m. in the area of the school.

Officers checked on a gray Volkswagen with three occupants, parked in the school parking lot. They removed the three occupants. A man was seated in the driver’s seat with an open door, and his feet on the pavement.

The officer observed a handgun in the side compartment of the door, so he removed Noah Scanlon, 18, of Manchester, from the driver’s seat. Officer Jason Soucy secured a Ruger 9mm handgun from the car.

Sgt. Patrick Houghton observed another handgun on the passenger seat as soon as he removed the front seat passenger, Robert Gagne, 43, of Manchester, and Dominique Paradis, 18, of East Wakefield, who was seated in the rear of the vehicle. Gagne was sitting on top of the Ruger .380 when the officer asked him to step out of the vehicle.

The investigation revealed the subjects were listening to music in the school parking lot when Gagne discharged his firearm in the adjacent field. Gagne was charged with reckless conduct and taken into custody without incident.

Published reports at the time identified Gagne as a pre-school teacher at the Bakersville School.

Gagne’s two handguns were placed into evidence and he was released on $2,000 personal recognizance bail. He is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on June 14, 2018.
