CONCORD, NH – On Sunday, May 5, 2019 at approximately 9:37 p.m., Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop-A responded to Interstate 95 in the City of Portsmouth for a report of a tractor-trailer rollover.

Initial on-scene investigation revealed that a 2003 Kenworth with a flatbed trailer loaded with lumber being driven by Robert Ross, 62, of New Brunswick, Canada, was traveling southbound when ROSS lost control of his vehicle.  After losing control, the tractor-trailer struck the center median guardrail which resulted in it overturning and blocking all southbound lanes of travel. Additionally, the load of lumber it was carrying was separated from the trailer and scattered along the roadway and adjacent grass median.

No additional vehicles were involved in this collision and no injuries were sustained. A portion of Interstate 95 South in the vicinity of Exit 5 was closed for approximately six hours while the tractor-trailer and its cargo were recovered.

As a result of this investigation it was determined that Ross had experienced an intense coughing fit which resulted in him losing control of his vehicle.

The New Hampshire State Police Troop-A were assisted at the scene by NH State Police Troop-G Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Unit, New Hampshire Department of Transportation, Portsmouth Police Department, Portsmouth Fire Department, and National Wrecker Service.

Anyone with information pertaining to this crash is asked to contact Tr. Geoffrey Miller of the New Hampshire State Police, Troop-A Barracks at (603)679-3333 or Geoffrey.Miller@dos.nh.gov.
