To The Editor:

I’m writing in strong support of Sean Parr for Manchester School Board, Ward 2. I’ve known Sean for 18 years and believe that he has the background, skills and dedication necessary to be a highly effective member of the School Board. Having lived in Ward 2, I know that part of the city well. I am a Manchester native and proud product of its public schools (Smyth Road School, Hillside Middle School and Central High School), the daughter of public school teachers and an educator myself.

I first met Sean when we were both graduate students at Florida State University in 2001; we remained good friends through the years and are now colleagues at Saint Anselm College. I know first-hand that Sean is deeply dedicated to public education, is himself a product of public schools and serves as a volunteer at Smyth Road School where his children attend. He is a lifetime educator: college professor, math tutor and holds a PhD. As such, he highly values teaching and teachers and wants every student to succeed. Further, he is endorsed by the teachers’ union (Manchester Education Association), has experience with curriculum and academic programs, working with committees and managing budgets in school programs. With his experience, energy, vision, and commitment, I feel that Sean is an ideal candidate for the Manchester School Board.

I urge all Ward 2 residents to vote for Sean Parr — he is the right person for the office.
