MANCHESTER, N.H. – Sweeney Post #2 took their fourth straight victory on Tuesday night, defeating Merrimack Post #98, 6-3.

Merrimack got off to a quick start, as a leadoff hit from Trevor Coyne was followed by Cody Pfeifer’s home run to left. Sam Froio followed Pfeifer’s shot with another hit, but the visitors were unable to add any more runs in the first.

Sweeney tied things up in the fourth, with Thomas Evans beginning a three-hit rally. Merrimack answered in the fifth with Coyne crossing the plate again off a Ben Flanders RBI single, but Merrimack failed to build on their regained lead, leaving another two men stranded.

Sweeney capitalized in the sixth, putting across four runs thanks to doubles from Cesar Franco and Kyle Swetland as well as a triple from Evans.

The triple finished a 3-for-3 day at the plate for Evans, also gaining a walk in the fifth.

Sweeney is now 4-2 in regular season games, with a doubleheader scheduled tomorrow in Laconia.
