MANCHESTER, NH – The Los Angeles Kings have assigned defenseman Derek Forbort to the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced Feb. 27.

The 6-4, 219-pound native of Duluth, Minn., appeared in 46 games earlier this season with Manchester (AHL), recording 11 points (2-9=11), a plus-15 rating and 37 penalty minutes. His two goals on the season are a career-best. At the time of his recall, he ranked tied for 10th in the league in plus-minus. Among team-leaders, he ranked second in plus-minus among active players (leads all team defensemen). He did not appear in a game during his call-up.

Selected in the first-round (15th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Kings, Forbort has appeared in 126 career AHL games, all with Manchester (AHL), collecting 29 points (3-26=29), a plus-39 rating and 79 penalty minutes.
