MANCHESTER, NH – Jupiter Hall will host “Just Your Type,” an exhibit of typewriter photography by Queen City artist Brenda Noiseux Oct. 11-25. The exhibit features pictures from Noiseux’s 2017 photo calendar, taken in and around Manchester.
“It’s amazing how many people have a story to share once you tell them you collect typewriters,’ Noiseux said. “My household’s collection of fifty-odd typewriters are meant to be used and shared. For this project, I photographed some of them ‘out in the wild’ to help reawaken those memories of these machines.”
Photographs in the “Just Your Type” exhibit will be paired with working typewriters that gallery visitors can try out and use to add to the ever-changing presentation.
Also on the schedule are a series of workshops:
- 7 p.m Oct. 12, “The Ultimate Writing Machine: How Typewriters Can Cure Writer’s Block and Help You Reach ‘The End’”;
- 11 a.m. Oct. 14, “Kickstarter for Small Projects; 6 p.m.
- Oct. 18, “Hammering Your Letters Home Home,” and 5:30 p.m.
- Oct. 25, “Making Your Own Zine.” Workshop prices range from $40 to $15.
The exhibit will include a Type-In – a gathering for typewriter fans – at 11 a.m. Oct. 20 and a showing of the documentary “California Typewriters.”
