MANCHESTER, NH — A group of teachers and their antique-loving friend are having an art and antique sale this weekend, a collaborative and creative way to make a little extra money while promoting their work and feeding the local art economy.

McDonough art teacher Claire Provencher, a ceramic artist, says it started with her neighbor, Kim Hughes, a special ed teacher at McLaughlin and avid antique collector.
“Once a year in June she has a big sale in her driveway and yard,” says Provencher.
Two years ago another friend, Corey Doherty, who teaches art at Central, had a holiday art sale at her Beech Street home and invited Provencher and other artists to join in.
Inspired by the collaborative creativity and sense of community, Provencher decided to have an art sale to coincide with Hughes’ antique sale, making for a wonderful pop-up artsy yard sale set for June 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., where Orange and Oak streets intersect.
