Manchester Ink Link is pleased to introduce Medical Matters – a regular column dedicated to health care in the state’s largest city. In case you hadn’t noticed, we are living in the midst of a veritable health care hub. We’re home to two renowned acute care hospitals, the state’s largest Veteran’s Medical Center, several clinical locations of the state’s largest health care system, numerous medical offices and surgi-centers, walk-in clinics and behavioral health care providers – and that’s just scratching the surface.

On Elm Street alone, there are a pair of major insurance companies and one of the state’s Managed Medicaid providers. The Millyard teams with health care companies of many stripes and each year the area’s colleges are producing hundreds of highly-skilled physician assistants, nurses and pharmacists – just to name a few. Other local companies are on the forefront of the medical device or pharmaceutical industry, or leading the way on payment innovation and population health.

In addition to serving the health care needs of those who reside in greater Manchester and beyond, our city draws people from across the region seeking leading edge medical care and services. Medical facilities and other health care companies are also a major employer, serving as a significant economic driver for our city and state.

Medical Matters will provide in-depth coverage of the local health care environment and those shaping it, how it is regulated, health and wellness trends, technology, how we consume health care, and most importantly – how we pay for it. We’ll also provide – and solicit –  opinions on this amazing environment.

As for me, I’ve been thrilled to have been part of many segments of the Granite State’s health care environment over the past two decades, with roles at medical providers large and small to the health insurance industry to health-related non-profit organizations.

There is certainly no shortage of potential topics in the compelling and often complex world of health care. That said, we welcome your story ideas and tips, employee news and certifications, recent technology being added, building projects and facility improvements.

I welcome your feedback, ideas, questions and email –  ChrisDugan@ManchesterInkLink.com.

Thanks for reading. Good health to you!
