MANCHESTER, NH – An inmate from the minimum-security Calumet House in Manchester who fled on foot from security officers on Tuesday was arrested Wednesday morning, after he was stopped by police for driving a stolen vehicle.

Officer Jamie Branch of the Patrol Division was dispatched to Queen City Paint, located at 777 Lake Ave., on Dec. 14 at 9:26 a.m.  for a stolen motor vehicle report. He responded to the call from Candia Road when he noticed the stolen Chevy Malibu pass his location near Lake Shore Road.

Officer Branch activated his emergency lights to stop the motor vehicle, which was confirmed stolen based on the registration number he provided to dispatch. The lone operator failed to stop and continued eastbound into Auburn. Officer Branch pursued the vehicle into Auburn when the suspect ultimately stopped the vehicle on Dearborn Road after becoming stuck behind a parked dump truck.

Two additional Auburn Police cruisers were on scene when the vehicle stopped and assisted in the arrest of Dennis Holland, 36, no fixed address. Holland ultimately complied with the officers and was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Manchester Police Department. Officer Branch confirmed Holland was the same individual who ran away from the Calumet half -way house earlier in the day.

Officer Branch observed a small amount of marijuana inside of the vehicle, so Holland was charged with transporting drugs (a misdemeanor); theft by unauthorized taking (a felony); escape (a felony); and disobeying a police officer (a misdemeanor). He was scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on December 15, 2016.

The reporting party of the stolen motor vehicle was transported to Auburn so he could take possession of his vehicle. Holland allegedly took the running the motor vehicle from owner  Josh Larkin while he conducted business inside Queen City Paint. Larkin was given a warning for an unattended motor vehicle.
