NASHUA, NH  – Summertime and the living’s easy  – for most of us – but for the folks at Great American Downtown (GAD), it’s nose to the grindstone preparing for their newest event, the New England Roots Festival, featuring folk, bluegrass, Americana, rhythm & blues, and more, in partnership with the City of Nashua and The River Casino & Sports Bar.

This free all-day event will take place on September 30 from noon to 10 p.m. at multiple venues across Downtown Nashua, including a stage right in the middle of a closed Main Street. In addition to live music, this festival event will feature food trucks, live art, interactive demonstrations, local artisanal vendors and more.

Building on the success of the Nu Muse Festival, the first of two festivals in their new series, GAD hopes to engage a wide audience from across the region at the New England Roots Festival. From premier bluegrass groups like The Jacob Jolliff Band, to the soul-wrenching blues of Julie Rhodes, the New England Roots Festival will offer a diverse, high-quality line-up of nationally and regionally acclaimed performances for all to enjoy.

“GAD’s efforts to-date in developing a music festival series in Downtown Nashua has contributed substantially to the arts and cultural programming available to the greater Nashua community,” said Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess in a letter to the NH State Arts Council. He expressed further support by stating that, “community engagement through the arts helps draw visitors, enhance the overall quality of life in our community, and stimulate our city’s economy.”

The mayor’s point is well taken: The New England Roots Festival will be another pivotal step forward in engaging the community of Downtown Nashua through the power of music. GAD is still accepting applications for performance artists, and vendors for the arts and artisans market.
