MANCHESTER, NH – Josiah Brown, 19, of 592 Hooksett Road, Auburn, was arrested Saturday night by Manchester Police on attempted robbery charges based on the following police narrative:

On January 21, 2017 at approximately 10 p.m. Manchester Police responded to Enright Park on Lincoln Street where they spoke with Jonothan Higgins, 24, of Beech Street, in Manchester. Higgins reported that he was walking by an address on Hanover Street, later determined to be 429 Hanover St., when a group of three men accosted him from the front porch of that address. Higgins stated that the men approached him and he observed one of them with a black and silver handgun in his waistband, pull the gun out and load a magazine into it. Higgins was knocked to the ground where he felt the gun put to his head. While this was happening, one of the men told Higgins to “run his pockets, meaning give them whatever he had on him. Higgins got away after a woman nearby began yelling at the men to stop what they were doing.

Higgins gave a description to the officers of the male with the gun. The officers went to the 429 Hanover St. and located three men. They began to call the men out of the front porch and entry area. One of the men, later identified as Brown, ran back into the first-floor apartment and crouched near a piece of furniture. Brown then exited the apartment. Officers got consent from the apartment owner to search for a possible weapon. They located a black and silver handgun right where Brown was seen crouching. Brown was taken into custody. Officers found ammunition on Brown’s person matching the ammunition in the firearm.

Brown was charged with attempted robbery, resisting arrest or detention and falsifying physical evidence.
