MANCHESTER, NH – The Derryfield School Lyceum Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Hover, a solo exhibition of paintings and drawings by New Hampshire-based artist, Patrick Dunfey. This exhibition will feature both small and large scale paintings ranging from Dunfey’s work in early ‘90s to his most recent work from 2018. Inspired by early American journals and music, automatic drawing, and his own writing of lyric songs, Dunfey’s work hovers between precision and flow, between ideas and expressions, moments, and feelings.

Originally from Manchester, Dunfey received his BFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1981. He lives in Hanover, where he is head of exhibitions design and planning at the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College. His studio is in White River Junction, Vermont, just across the Connecticut River.

Patrick Dunfey’s artwork has been shown in museum and gallery exhibitions nationwide. His work is in the permanent collections of the Ackland Museum of Art, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC; Bowdoin College Museum of Art, Brunswick, ME; Currier Museum of Art, Manchester, NH; and Luria Library, Santa Barbara City College, Santa Barbara, CA.

Hover runs from September 8 through November 4, 2018. The Gallery is open weekdays, 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. There will be a reception for the artist on Friday, October 5, from 5:30-7:00 p.m. with an Artist Talk at 6:00 p.m.
