CONCORD, NH – No pot for you.

On Feb. 11 the NH legislature killed a bill that would have legalized marijuana by taxing and regulating it.
As reported by the NH Union Leader, House Bill 1694 was deemed “inexpedient to legislate,” which means the bill is dead. HB 1694 called for legalizing marijuana for those 21 years old and older and would have imposed a $15-per-ounce marijuanatax on the leaves, and a $530-per-ounce tax on the much more potent flowers, which also can be used to cultivate plants.
Language in the bill would have allowed cultivation of up to six plants.
Supporters said it is time to stop making criminals of users, citing marijuana as less dangerous than alcohol.  Opponents cited the current drug addiction crisis, saying it was not the time to legalize drugs in NH.
