MANCHESTER, NH – As the statewide unemployment rate remains low, currently at 2.6 percent, business owners recognize during prosperous times that good help can be very hard to find. In response to the large number of job openings in the region, many companies of all types have signed up for the 2018 New Hampshire College and University Council College Career Fair. The job market is bright in New Hampshire and college graduates have many options, due mainly to low unemployment, and due to business growth in the region, which has created new job openings statewide.

The 45th annual career fair will be held in the Sullivan Arena at Saint Anselm College on Thursday, April 12, from 2-5 p.m.

“The large number of participating businesses is a clear signal to graduates that there are terrific jobs out there,” says Mike Vlacich, President of New Hampshire College and University Council. “From manufacturing to high tech to tourism and the service industry, we have found many in the private sector seek well-trained and qualified young workers to fill a variety of positions. They are hiring right now.”

The career fair offers immediate results. This year, nearly 100 businesses will meet students and conduct job interviews. Students will also be invited to join internships, explore graduate school, and network with business owners from around the region.

Catholic Medical Center, Citizens Bank, Comcast, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Easter Seals NH, Elliot Health System, FBI Boston, Mascoma Bank, NH Motor Speedway, NH State Police, Scribe Software, St. Joseph Hospital, U.S. Navy, Office of Congresswoman Ann McLane Kuster, Office of U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan and Office of U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen are just a few of the wide variety of companies participating in the 2018 NHCUC Career Fair. “Given the increasing demand from businesses for highly skilled employees, students understand the need to be well-prepared and well-educated,” explains Vlacich. “And businesses understand our career fair features some of the best and brightest of the Class of 2018, so more of them are signing up to participate.”

Students from 21 New Hampshire colleges and universities will participate in the career fair, which is one of the largest and oldest of its kind in New England. The career fair is free for college students and recent graduates of participating schools.
