Women’s Soccer

A pair of overtimes couldn’t decide a winner in the Battle of the Saints as Saint Anselm and Saint Michael’s played to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.

Saint Anselm’s goal came from senior Caly Farina (Southbury, Conn.), who chipped a shot from outside the penalty area in the 44th minute.

That marked her third goal of the year and her 18th career goal, putting her in the top-10 all-time list among Saint Anselm players.

Junior goalkeeper Payton Wildrick (Dartmouth, Mass.) stopped five shots, also putting her in the top-10 all time with 154 career saves.

Saint Anselm (4-1-4, 1-1-3 NE-10) take on Assumption today at 4 p.m.

Women’s Ice Hockey

Hockey is back and the Hawks opened their season on a high note with a 6-1 win over Post.

Along with a shorthanded goal from freshman Marissa Agerter (Eagan, Minn.)  the Hawks got even-strength scores from junior Katy Meehan (Quincy, Mass.), freshman Gabrielle Huson (Edina, Minn.), junior Gabby Monaco (La Verne, Calif.), senior Amanda Nylander (Hanover, Minn.), and sophomore Erin Meyers (Saint Paul, Minn.).

Meehan also contributed three assists in the victory.

The Hawks (1-0-0, 1-0-0 NEWHA) take on Post again today before their home opener on Oct. 18 against Sacred Heart.

Men’s Soccer

The Hawks will return to Colchester, Vt. To finish their contest against Saint Michael’s on Monday, Oct. 7 at 3 p.m.

There were 23 minutes left in regulation on Tuesday when the game was postponed due to a second lightning delay. Saint Anselm led, 1-0.

They also play today at American International at 3 p.m.
