My name is Michael Porter and I am announcing my intention to run for Alderman in Ward 8.
I am a lifelong resident of Manchester and a resident in Ward 8 for 13 years. I am married to my wonderful wife Nathalie and have 3 children (Abby, Kylie, and Nicklaus). Abby is a graduate of Memorial High School, Kylie attends Southside Middle School, and Nick attends Jewett Street Middle School.
I am a 1985 graduate of Trinity High School in Manchester. In 2005 I enrolled full-time evening at Franklin Pierce University, while working full time, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2009. During the summer of 2009 I enrolled at the Massachusetts School of Law, part- time, while employed full-time. I graduated from MSL in May 2013. I am currently a member of the Massachusetts Bar and New Hampshire Bar. I am employed full-time with the State of New Hampshire.
I have decided to run for Ward 8 Alderman for a variety of reasons. Primarily I believe I can provide strong leadership for the residents of Ward 8. Ward 8 faces many complex issues as we most recently witnessed with the development near Lucas Road. Our ward has a strong mixture of residential and commercial properties and in many ways is a major tax revenue generator for the city as a whole.
If I am fortunate enough to earn your vote I will work hard for all the residents of Ward 8.In the upcoming weeks I will launch a Facebook page along with additional contact information. I look forward to speaking with the voters of Ward 8 and engaging in dialogue as to how we can continue to promote the best interests of Ward 8.
