MANCHESTER, NH  – Governor Maggie Hassan on June 14 will sign a bipartisan bill establishing a statewide drug court program to help those battling addiction access treatment and recovery services across the state.

In establishing a statewide drug court program, Senate Bill 464 which calls for a statewide drug offender grant program and drug courts or alternative drug offender programs in certain counties, reflects one component of the comprehensive legislation to combat the heroin and opioid crisis that Hassan proposed when she called for a special session of the legislature last fall. The Governor also included funding to expand drug courts throughout the state in her budget proposal last year.

Senate Bill 464 also builds on the Governor’s commitment to fiscal responsibility, transferring up to $40 million to the state’s Rainy Day Fund this year.

She will ceremoniously sign the bill at 11:30 a.m. at Hillsborough County Superior Court North, 300 Chestnut Street in Manchester.
