The Harrisburg Senators won’t return to Manchester until 2018, and they left on Thursday night with a 10-1 victory over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
Jose Marmolejos got the Senators on the board with a two-run homer in the first inning and the visitors kept the momentum going from there.
Harrisburg scored in each of the next three innings and again in the sixth before Richard Urena’s double gave New Hampshire their first run in the bottom of the sixth.
Urena’s RBI would the Fisher Cats’ last, with the Senators’ Jake Lowery bringing Drew Ward across the plate for one last Harrisburg run in the ninth.
Jose Lisson also added a home run for Harrisburg, with the Senators getting at least one hit from every batter except for Ward. Four Harrisburg batters had multiple hits, with Marmolejos leading the way, going 3-for-5 on the night with a double on top of his home run.
Harold Ramirez was the only Fisher Cat with more than one hit, going 2-for-3 on the night.
John Simms (3-4) was the winner, going 7 1/3 innings. Before he left, he struck out eight New Hampshire batters, scattering five hits.
Shane Dawson (1-7) allowed twice as many hits over his four innings of work, allowing eight of Harrisburg’s 10 runs.
After losing the series’ rubber match, New Hampshire returns to the Eastern League cellar, now one game below Harrisburg in the standings.
The Fisher Cats now welcome the Binghamton Rumble Ponies back to New Hampshire for a weekend series. Sean Reid-Foley (3-5, 5.33 ERA) takes the mound for New Hampshire in the Friday’s contest to face Marcos Molina (0-1, 6.00 ERA). First pitch is 7:05 p.m.
