MANCHESTER, NH – Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man with a gun who fired into a crowd of people after a dispute in an alley near the Pericles Club, and then snatched a purse from a bystander before fleeing on foot.

Manchester Police responded to a “shots fired” call in the area of 241 Pine St. just after 1:20 a.m. July 31. Several people told police they heard a disturbance in the alley, near the Pericles Club. The disturbance involved several people, including a suspect described as a “skinny” African-American male holding a silver handgun.

The gunman “engaged in a confrontation with unknown victims/targets” prior to fleeing the area on foot as he fired several rounds into the crowd of people, police said. The man allegedly ran past a 53-year-old Manchester woman and took her purse as he fled past the crowd of people. He was last seen running north on Barry Avenue toward Lake Avenue and was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt. The victim of the purse snatching could not provide a better description of the suspect because she attempted to hide once she heard the gunshots.

Two vehicles were struck by the stray bullets and several 9mm shell casings were located in the area. The two vehicles were parked in the rear of 241 Pine Street. A 2009 Nissan Murano and 2015 Hyundai Accent were damaged during the incident. One of the vehicles belonged to a resident of 241 Pine St. Both vehicle owners appear to be innocent victim’s as a result of the reckless conduct of the suspect.

The investigation remains open, so if you can help identify the suspect, please contact the Detective Division at 792-5500. Please contact Manchester Police Crimeline at 624-4040 and provide your anonymous tip. You may be eligible for a cash reward if your tip leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
