PORTLAND, MAINE – On Monday, the Eastern League named New Hampshire Fisher Cats third baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. as its first Eastern League Player of the Week for 2018, spanning the period of April 5-15.

During that time frame, Guerrero Jr. had a slash line of .361/.419/.639 over ten games against Trenton and Hartford.

Guerrero had at least one hit in nine of those ten games, going 0-for-2 against Hartford on April 6. However, he still grabbed two walks during that game, also adding a sacrifice RBI in that game as well, one of his 12 RBI during the ten-game span.

The peak of his otherworldly start came on April 9 at Dunkin’ Donuts Park in Hartford where he went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, two runs, a walk and six RBI.

It was such a good day that the home run was featured the next day on ESPN’s Sport Center.

The son of Hall of Famer and 2004 AL MVP Vladimir Guerrero was signed by the Blue Jays for $3.9 million in 2015, and entered the season as the highest-rated MLB.com/Baseball America prospect in Fisher Cats history.
