Launch of Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses.

MANCHESTER, NH –The Community College System of New Hampshire (CCSNH) is inviting small businesses to apply to participate in Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses. Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses is a training program to help entrepreneurs create jobs and economic opportunity by providing greater access to education, capital and business support services.

The program, which is provided at no cost with support from the Goldman Sachs Foundation, is offered in partnership between New Hampshire’s community colleges and Babson College – recently named No. 1 for Entrepreneurship by U.S. News & World Report for the 22nd year in a row. The curriculum is designed by Babson College and used in training community college faculty in delivering the program.

“Small businesses are the backbone of New Hampshire’s economy, so I’m pleased to see additional opportunities to help Granite State entrepreneurs succeed be made available through the 10,000 Small Businesses program,” said Senator Jeanne Shaheen during Friday’s launch of the initiative.

“The 10,000 Small Businesses program provides resources to educate and empower small business owners with the training they need to start and expand their businesses, handle complicated workforce issues and increase revenue by finding new market opportunities. I applaud the efforts of New Hampshire’s community colleges to educate and train workers so they can succeed in our economy, and their close coordination with the business community to fill good paying jobs. As a member of the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, I’ll continue to support efforts that help Granite State small businesses grow and flourish,” Shaheen said.

“The Community College System of New Hampshire is pleased to partner with Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses to help our state’s small businesses thrive and grow,” said Dr. Ross Gittell, CCSNH Chancellor. “This program can help our state’s small business owners increase their productivity, profitability, and job-creation potential, helping communities across the state increase their economic resiliency and impact.”

Accepted applicants receive hands-on education for business growth, access to highly-trained, small business professionals, and an expanded peer network of small business owners from across the country. There are no fees to apply for the program and no costs to take the program. The program is part of the Goldman Sachs Foundation’s philanthropic efforts to help entrepreneurs create jobs and economic opportunity by providing access to education and business support services.

To date, over 7,600 small business owners from all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico have graduated from the program. Program’s results include:

  • 67 percent of graduates see revenue growth six months after completing the program
  • 47 percent report creating new jobs six months after completing the program

Santosh Salvi, a Nashua business owner who is a 10,000 Small Businesses alumni, said the program helped his company grow, stating, “I’m pleased to share that we’ve helped 73 percent of the people we’ve trained get jobs and since graduating the program, my business revenues have increased by 35 percent, and we’re expected to more than triple by 2022.”

Eligible businesses have been in business for at least two years, have at least $100,000 in revenue, and have at least two employees (including the business owner). Businesses of all types and across all industries are encouraged to apply.
