Kevin Lawrence, 27, of Ellwood, GA, was arrested by Manchester Police Oct. 21, after he was stopped on Elm Street driving a stolen truck.

At about 1 a.m. an officer on patrol spotted a black, 2001 Ford Ranger pickup truck with a broken tail light driving north on Elm Street heading toward Bridge Street and conducted a routine traffic stop.

The officer immediately smelled an odor believed to be marijuana as he approached the Lawrence, who was unable to produce a vehicle registration for the truck and did not know the truck owner’s name.

A police officer discovered remnants of a marijuana “blunt” in the ashtray and after further questioning, police learned that Lawrence had stolen the truck from Medford, Mass.

Lawrence told police he drove to Manchester so he could visit his mother. A subsequent check of Lawrence’s name revealed he had an active warrant out of Merrimack County. He was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle and  possession of a controlled drug, and was placed on a 72-hour hold for the warrant.
