MANCHESTER, NH – A large multi-use building was evacuated Tuesday for a short time after an exterior gas pipe was damaged, creating a gas leak.

Manchester fire companies arrived at 1050 Holt Ave. to find a gas pipe had been struck by a tractor-trailer backing into a loading dock. Gas was entering the building from the overhead doors. The building contained multiple occupancies. The building was evacuated and Fire Department personnel stopped the leak with the protection of handlines providing vapor dispersion.

Liberty Untilities was called in to repair the pipe. All occupants were allowed to re-occupy the building after the Fire Department personnel ventilated the building and secured any ignition sources.

One Firefighter received a laceration to his hand and was treated and released from the Elliot Hospital.
