Galileo will share his “recent astronomical discoveries” during a lecture March 28 at Griffin Free Library in Auburn.

AUBURN, NH – Griffin Free Public Library has received a New Hampshire Humanities Grant for Galileo Galilei, the Starry Messenger, a historic science-centric presentation by character actor Michael Francis.

This living history presentation will take place on March 28 at 7 p.m. at Griffin Free Public Library, 22 Hooksett Road, in Auburn.

The Starry Messenger is a dramatic fun-filled adaptation of Galileo’s short treatise Siderius Nuncius, the first published scientific account of the heavens based on observations from a telescope. Galileo (dressed in 17th century costume) will arrive to present a public lecture on his most recent discoveries made using his newly devised spyglass. As he describes those discoveries, Galileo’s new method of observation and measurement of nature become apparent.

Throughout the presentation, the esteemed scientists in attendance are actively involved in experiments and demonstrations. After the lecture, Galileo invites his audience to ask questions about his life, times and experiment.

This program is free and open to the public and refreshments will be provided.
