Fugitive gang member arrested by U.S. Marshals in Manchester

MANCHESTER, NH — A fugitive gang member with violent tendencies was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force today.  Jose Gonzalez, 39, was arrested by members of the NH Joint Fugitive Task Force at a residence in the 200 block of Calef Road in Manchester.

Gonzalez was wanted on an outstanding federal arrest warrant for supervised release violations; he was on supervised release as a part of his conviction and sentence for possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Mr. Gonzalez was featured as the U.S. Marshal’s “Fugitive of the Week” on April 20, 2016.  This feature produced numerous tips, which were thoroughly investigated by the task force. Several recent tips were received indicating that Gonzalez had been staying at an apartment on Calef Road. This recent information caused investigators to respond to the Calef Road residence.  After approaching the residence, Gonzalez came out and surrendered after realizing that the house was surrounded and he could not escape.

This arrest was made by several members of U.S. Marshals – NH Joint Fugitive Task Force, including; Strafford & Rockingham County Sheriff’s Offices, U.S. Department of State, Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE), deputy U.S. Marshals, along with officers from the Manchester Police Department.  This team approach ensured the safety of all members of the fugitive task force and the public.

After his arrest, Gonzalez was transported to the U.S. District Court in Concord, NH for processing and holding pending his initial court appearance later this afternoon.
