CONCORD, NH — Bring the family to Discover WILD New Hampshire Day, the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department’s biggest community event of the year!  The event is set for Saturday, April 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the grounds of the Fish and Game Department at 11 Hazen Drive in Concord. Admission is free.

Discover WILD New Hampshire Day is a fun way for the whole family to explore New Hampshire’s wildlife resources and legacy of outdoor traditions. Browse exhibits presented by more than 60 outdoor and conservation organizations from throughout the state. See live animals, big fish and trained falcons. Try your hand at archery, casting, fly-tying and air rifle. Watch retriever dogs in action. Get creative with hands-on craft activities for the kids. Plus, check out the latest hunting and fishing gear and gadgets.

This event is your chance to explore new ways to get outdoors and be active.  Tie a fly with members of Trout Unlimited. Learn to call turkeys with the N.H. Chapter of the Wild Turkey Federation. Explore new trends in recycling and environmental protection with N.H. Department of Environmental Services staff.  Live animal presentations take place throughout the day. Bass Pro Shops will have their big casting boat on site. And everyone enjoys a peek at the big trout and salmon in the Fish and Game hatchery truck.

Be sure to stop by the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of New Hampshire tent, where Fish and Game’s nonprofit partner will hold a raffle of outdoor gear and other great prizes, plus a sale of used hunting and fishing gear.

“The people of New Hampshire care deeply about our wildlife and conserving their environment,” said Fish and Game Director Glenn Normandeau. “This event is a fun way to explore the many ways you and your family can get connected to the great outdoors.”

Discover WILD New Hampshire Day is held rain or shine. The Fish and Game License Office will be open during the event, so stop in and purchase your fishing or hunting license. Food concession will be available from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Dog owners – Please note that no dogs, except service and working animals, will be permitted at the event. This rule will be strictly enforced, so please leave pets at home.

Discover WILD New Hampshire Day began in New Hampshire in 1989 as an observance of Earth Day and a celebration of the state’s wealth of natural resources and outdoor recreational opportunities. The event is hosted by the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department (www.wildnh.com) and sponsored by the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of New Hampshire (nhwildlifeheritage.org), the agency’s nonprofit partner.
