READING, Penn. – On Wednesday, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats defeated the Reading Fightin’ Phils, 7-2, echoing their same winning score from one day earlier.
Unlike Tuesday however, the Fisher Cats scored first in the rematch, with Cavan Biggio’s first inning double bringing Jonathan Davis and Bo Bichette across the plate.
New Hampshire would score four more unanswered runs until Zach Green’s two-run homer in the sixth put Reading on the board.
The Fightins’ would muster only three more hits after that moment, with Biggio adding another RBI in the ninth to complete New Hampshire’s victory.
Biggio ended the day with three hits, while Davis and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. added two and Juan Kelly added his fourth home run of the year along with two walks.
For Reading, Deivi Grullon went 3-for-4 with Marcelo Canelo following him with a 2-for-4 night.
Spot starter TJ Zeuch (1-2) submitted a quality start to earn the win, allowing eight hits and a pair of walks in seven innings of work, striking out six.
Although it wasn’t a save situation, Andrew Case still submitted one of his best relief performances of the year after Zeuch left the contest, recording his first scoreless two inning appearance since April 23 against Binghamton.
The Reading bullpen was also effective, but irrelevant due to the tough night for Reading starter Harold Arauz (3-2).
Arauz allowed six hits and four walks in five innings of work, bringing his ERA against the Fisher Cats to 6.17 so far this year, just under two runs higher than his overall ERA.
Josh DeGraaf will make his 2018 Fisher Cats debut on Thursday, facing off against a starter yet to be announced for Reading.
DeGraaf has appeared in eight contests so far this year for Triple-A Buffalo and Advanced Single-A Dunedin, appearing in nine games last year for New Hampshire.
First pitch for the contest is set at 11:45 a.m., concluding a slate of morning games across the Eastern League on Wednesday.
